MPii - The Motion Picture Industry Institute along with Hope Mineo launched 2000Dames to be a comprehensive program that takes female artists’ projects from creation through funding, to marketing and promotion. The program provides ongoing professional support for female artists in the business of being an artist in order to advance their inclusion and impact.
We are dedicated to a world in which gender equality is the mainstream norm, where expressing and experiencing the female perspective is expected and celebrated, creating a richer world for everyone.
What is a Dame?
The Program:
The professional staff actively recruits female artists in all art forms: filmmakers, writers, musicians, creative artists, performers, fine artists, digital art, dance… focused on individual work, and artists whose work is about social issues to become a part of our Social Impact projects.
Then experienced arts professionals coach and guide our new program artists in planning, building teams, identifying their intended audience, and creating a professional pitch proposal.
These projects are presented to the membership so each Dame can choose which one(s) she wants to support. Funding a project is not required to be a Dame.
The professional team then serves as executive producers, supervising the execution, marketing and promotion of these projects.
TheDames are a unique and vital piece of this process — their support while financial is also inspirational, and integral to the success of the artists.

Original Meaning:
The word Dame has had many different meanings and uses throughout history. Our favorite, and the one we resonate with is the original meaning from the 15th century. Until then a word did not exist to describe:

Arts Professionals are consultants, artists/executives in residence, or salaried employees. They act as mentors, coaches, sponsors and producers. Through their work they create gender equality in the arts and impact one of the most important agendas of our time - equality for women.
